A desk made in real concrete

This reception desk is handmade in real C30/37 concrete. The material is a mix of cement, aggregate, dispersed reinforcement and additives, and it is worked by hand rather than moulded to a uniform industrial finish.

Natural variation is part of the material

Colour and texture vary naturally across a concrete surface. Small air bubbles and surface voids are a normal feature of the material, and colour can differ between batches or with temperature and humidity. These characteristics are inherent to real concrete rather than defects, and they are why no two pieces look identical.

How the bespoke process works

The desk is made to your requirements. You tell us the approximate size and shape you have in mind, whether signage is to be incorporated, what storage the desk needs, and what power and data it has to carry. We design the piece around those requirements and manufacture it in real concrete.

Planning the reception area

Plan the desk with the room and the people who will use it. Share the entrance and reception dimensions, visitor route, staff tasks, storage needs, signage position, power and data points, and any requirement for equipment behind the desk. Also identify access constraints such as loading arrangements, lift sizes, stairs and door widths. Exact dimensions, clearances and configurations must be confirmed for the proposed design rather than inferred from the photographs.

Preparing for a quotation

There is no public product price. Share the approximate size and shape, concrete requirement, signage, storage, power and data, site access and programme through Request a price so the requirement can be reviewed and a quotation prepared. Do not treat a wider workplace-project cost or another supplier’s price as the price of this desk.

Programme, installation and aftercare

Bespoke timing depends on the final specification and manufacturer. The general planning bands of 4 to 8 weeks for standard manufactured furniture and 8 to 12 weeks for specialist or larger projects are not a product availability promise for this desk. Installation dates follow agreed supplier production schedules.

Depending on the project and confirmed design, installation may include coordination for restricted access, multi-floor, phased or out-of-hours work and final handover. The product carries the relevant manufacturer’s commercial warranty. Après remains your main contact and coordinates any remedy with the manufacturer where required.

Looking after a concrete surface

Concrete needs gentle care.

• Avoid heavy or sharp impact on the surface.
• Remove any substance from the surface promptly, without rubbing it in.
• Dust the surface in a way that does not scratch it.
• Clean only with a soft sponge, brush or microfibre cloth, lukewarm water and a delicate cleaner.
• Do not use abrasive tools or aggressive cleaners.
