Manufacturer of auditorium seating systems.
Race Furniture was founded immediately after the Second World War, under the design direction of Ernest Race who before the War had earned a strong reputation for textile and interior design. Race’s designs became famous for using materials which had been developed during the War. Furthermore, under the Government’s ‘utility furniture scheme, companies were encouraged to work with alternative materials in order to preserve the country’s limited reserves of timber and other scarce commodities.
From 1945 to 1960, Race Furniture was responsible for producing some of the most iconic designs of the pot-war era. In stark contrast to the dreary backdrop of post-war austerity, Race’s designs were characterised by a playful use of modern materials and animated form.
Today, from school classrooms to international conference centres, from courtrooms to theatres, Race Furniture is a watchword for style, quality and professionalism.
For sixty years Race Furniture has been at the forefront of developments in multi-functional and public seating systems, with a full and varied range to encompass many applications. Race Furniture has used its skills and experience to model, develop and manufacture the finest system seating to suit any particular requirement.
Race Furniture understand that every need is unique, so they supplement a range of standard designs with bespoke models, tailored to the needs of individual clients. All Race’s products combine time-honoured craftsmanship and skills with innovative design. Whatever the use, whatever the space, Race Furniture can help make it perfect.
