Paschen Libraries | Excellence Library
PASCHEN EXCELLENCE Library is, in differentiation to “period furniture”, a “classically interpreted furniture”. The difference becomes evident when looking at the collection in detail: “Excellence” resigns excessive “ornaments” and focuses, as far as design is concerned, on the original classic stylistic elements. The formal cohesion of the library is constituted by sty-listic details which cannot deny their architectural origins: stepped cornices, profiled trans-verse shelves, columns with roof profiles, as well as doors with stepped profiles of a classic origin. When Paschen is speaking about the “Paschen Excellence Bibliothek” as a modern classic, this is primarily expressed by “planeness”. Which means that stylistic details have been reduced in their proportions but without leaving the classic ideal, however.
The Library’s “Dress” – The Surface Finishing
For the “Paschen Excellence Bibliothek”, Paschen has found a way of realising the individu-ality of an authentic surface finishing, even under today’s conditions of production. The use of the most advanced manufacturing technology and the maintenance of old technical tradi-tions in the surface finishing are linked skilfully so that the colours of the furniture (stained on maple and oak) developed, thus corresponding to the old origins. Pastel coloured tones and wood colours (cherrywood, mahogany) in various shades and gloss levels, with traces of usage, as well as oak shades of different impressions, evenly leached and sanded.
